The Military & Family Support Center mission is to empower our COMMUNITY using seamless, team based, customer focused education and support, thereby enhancing quality of life and warfighter readiness.
The Military & Family Support Center at NSA Bethesda is located in Building 11 and open to serve you Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.We strive to be the superior Military & Family Support Center providing stellar service for our unique community through personal support and care. We want to empower our military community through exemplary customer focused education and support to promote personal and professional readiness.
Our workshops and seminars are open to all services of active and retired military personnel, their family members, Department of Defense employees, their spouses and contract employees. The programs are organized and facilitated by the professional staff of the Military & Family Support Center as well as professional educators within the local community.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Tribute to the brave people who died in service to our nation and recognize the sacrifices of those who have been left behind.
Bringing Baby Home
Designed for both pregnant and new parents to acquire skills and infor-mation to recognize and cope successfully with the normal stressors of be-coming a family. This evidence-based program teaches new parents how to deal effectively with conflict , how to be involved in infant care and par-enting, and how to improve the quality of parent-infant interactions.
CFS Training (VIRTUAL)
The training provides financial education and counseling to members of their units. This is a 40-hour course (M-F) taught by the Personal Financial Management Program (PFMP) Specialist.
DoD SkillBridge Program
Discover opportunities to participate in training and development with in-dustry and employers who are seeking the high-quality skills that you bring to the table.
DoL Employment Track
A comprehensive two-day curriculum that covers emerging best practices in career development. The workshop is engaging and relevant in light of the unique challenges facing transitioning service members. Service members receive vital skills in this DoL-led work-shop, including learning interview skills, building effective resumes, and using emerging technology to network and search for employment.
Hands-On Baby Care
Diapering, swaddling and dressing… OH MY!!! Come learn infant care with the NPSP. This crash course was created to support new parents with a hands-on learning opportunity to learn how to diaper, dress and swaddle a newborn. Other topics include soothing holds, infant massage, Safe Sleep and Baby Shaken Syndrome.
Job Search Strategies and Interviewing Skills
Interviewing is a key step in getting a job. Learn how to conduct yourself, communicate, dress, and other valuable information.
Married to the Military (VIRTUAL)
A support group for military spouses. Join the Military Family Support Cen-ter on Thursdays at noon for an hour of connection, support, networking, and resource sharing for spouses of active-duty military members. The group will gather virtually on TEAMS.
My Education
Managing Your Education guides and assists service members pursuing col-lege education with preparation for the college application process. This course will guide you through the variety of decisions involved in choosing a program, preparing for the college admissions application process, and se-curing funding. The expected outcome is that participants will create a cus-tomized plan for successful transition to a higher education institution.
Navy Spouse in Transition
Are you a Military Spouse who’s service member will be getting out of the military? This class will go over transition from the military to civilian life and all that it entails.
Pre-Deployment Brief
Designed to assist the IA service member in preparing for their deployment. Presenters will focus on emotional, legal and financial preparation as well as provide resources. Service members and their adult family members are welcome to attend.
Pre-Separation Counseling
Pre-Separation Counseling provides a lot of information on the many bene-fits, services, resources, and programs available during and after transition. This guide provides you with the basic information including hyperlinks, to start you on your journey and research programs that may be beneficial to you as you transition. Knowing about these benefits and programs is the first step in helping you make informed decisions when you transition, re-tire, or are released from active duty.
Quarterly Ombudsman Advanced Assembly Training
Training on a variety of topics to enhance Ombudsman knowledge and re-sponse capabilities.
Resume Writing
Improve the overall appearance and effectiveness of your resume! This class will give participants valuable feedback and strategies they can imple-ment.
Return and Reunion Brief
Designed to address typical issues of post-deployment such as finances, the emotional cycle of deployment, as well as reuniting and renewing relation-ships. Service members and their adult family members are welcome to attend.
safeTALK: Suicide Alertness for Everyone
This training helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources that can help them in choosing to live. Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon the conclusion of the training. This training can also be brought to any interested command/unit on base.
Smooth Move
Provides information to relocating service members and their families with PCS orders within CONUS.
Sponsorship Training
Learn important skills and resources to ease the transition of service mem-bers and their families as they move.
Strengthen Your Awareness
The SAPR Team and the MWR Fitness Center will join together to Strength-en Your Awareness. There will be a pop-up Tuesday body pump class to build up your body and knowledge of the SAPR program. Along with the class, there will be a resource fair to show many of the different programs on the installation that are here to support you.
Suicide Prevention and Suicide Prevention Awareness
Identify suicide warning signs, how to respond and resources to support an-yone who may be contemplating suicide.
Executive TAP (E-TAP)
Capstone
Your branch of service, DoD and the VA recognize the importance of education and offer a variety of programs to help Service members in this area. Some programs are for active duty, while other benefits can be used after you separate or retire. You can also save or invest in special, tax-advantaged accounts on your own to supplement these benefits.
SERVICES WE OFFER
NEW TO THE NAVY APP
The "New to the Navy" mobile application is for Sailors (Enlisted and Officers) who are fresh out of Boot Camp or Officer Candidate School and ready to report to their first command. The app answers common questions new Sailors may have on pay and personnel matters as they transfer to a school or to their duty station. Available for Apple and Android devices.
